Kendalia Donkey Ride

There will be a no-drop route in this ride.

Save the date! We will be doing the Kendalia Ride with a special treat: a stop at Cheryl Walthour's ranch and donkey sanctuary. Cheryl retired from Valero, went into teaching, and is now building on 20 beautiful acres complete with rescue donkeys. Stop in just before the finish for food, conversation, and animals! If you want to walk around, it is about a 100-yard walk over an unpaved ranch road to the corral--bring cleat covers if you have them.

The standard 34 and 52 mile Crabapple routes are challenging with very steep hills--the routes will be self-paced. The no-drop route will be an out-and-back along Edge Falls Road with a loop on Old Blanco Road that will go to the ranch. This is a flatter 19-mile option.

Meet at the Kendalia Public Library on FM 473 and Crabapple Road. Take Hwy 281 North 26 miles, and go left for 7 miles on FM 473 to Kendalia. This is a 45-minute drive from Hwy 281 and Loop 1604.
