San Antonio-Bexar County MPO

The San Antonio Wheelmen have a seat on the Bicycle Mobility Advisory Committee (BMAC) which supports the San Antonio - Bexar County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) on issues related to bicycling facilities. The purpose of the BMAC is to improve bicycle mobility within the City of San Antonio, Bexar County and adjacent areas included in the MPO area. The Wheelmen have been active participants in the BMAC since it was established in 1995 and were instrumental in getting the City Council to approve the Bicycle Mobility Plan. The club has also donated funds to the BMAC to help publish the bike map and to purchase helmets that are given to bicyclists who are observed riding without a helmet.

Join the BMAC for evening committee meetings in 2011 to hear reports on the state of bicycling in San Antonio and Bexar County. Find out what has been accomplished and where we are headed in regard to bike routes/lanes, linear creekways, and other bicycle facilities. There is also an opportunity for the public to address the BMAC with ideas and suggestions on bicycle facilities and other bicycling-related topics. The meetings will be held Wednesdays at 6:00 PM, in the Community Room of the VIA Metro Center, 1021 San Pedro Avenue, in San Antonio. The 2011 meetings are scheduled for May 11th, July 13th, and October 12th.
